Eugene Christian Mosbacher, only son of Henry and Amanda Mosbacher, was killed in action during the invasion of Iwo Jima on February 19, 1945. He served as CPL 5 PNR BN 5 Marine Div. He is buried in ST. Paul Evangelical Cemetery, Columbia, Illinois. | |

Eugene Rehg, who was a newly married marine when he was killed in the initial battle for Iwo Jima in WW2. He was the son of William and Elizabeth Rehg. He is buried in St. Paul E&R Cemetery in Columbia, along with his parents. He was buried in Iwo Jima for some years and his remains were brought back after the war. His brother Norman, survived WW2 in the Army Air corps. |
