The Waterloo Republican December 5, 1923 MAEYSTOWN Max Krone visited home folks Saturday and Sunday. Rev. Paul Schulz was called to Renault Monday to officiate at the funeral of William Noelken. Miss Elizabeth Winter, one of the teachers of the Columbia High School, spent Thanksgiving holidays with the family of Louis Krone. Henry Hoffmann is a patient at the Deaconess Hospital in East St. Louis where he underwent an operation for appendicitis. According to reports he is getting along nicely. Mrs. Jacob Gilbert celebrated her birthday Sunday, many of her relatives and friends calling at the Gilbert home in honor of the occasion. A bountiful supper was served to the guests. John Friedrichs, while driving to town in a farm wagon, applied the brake which making a noise, scared the team, over which he lost control and was thrown from the wagon and badly hurt. Dr. Maeys attended to his injuries and it is reported that Mr. Friedrichs is getting along nicely. No bones were broken.
