Waterloo Republican – May 5, 1909 MARRIAGES Miss Lulu Kuhn was married Sunday to Mr. Alfred Ettling, Rev. John Moeller officiating. Many friends extend best wishes to the newly wedded couple. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Waterloo Republican – May 5, 1909 DEATHS LOSSE Henry Losse died at his home in Dupo Sunday, May 2, 1909, aged about 55 years. The remains were interred in this city Tuesday morning in the Waterloo Cemetery. He leaves a wife, nee Dinzler, and three children. For many years the deceased was a resident of our
county, having resided in Burkeville for quite a while, and where he
erected the large building which was served as a credit to his industry.
Later he removed to Missouri, thence to Dupo where he died. MEYER Mrs. Mamie Meyer, nee Ludwig, wife of Joseph Meyer, died Sunday morning, May 2, 1909, age 24 years. Besides he husband she leaves two children, Arthur 5, and Homer 14 months. The deceased was held in high esteem by all who
know her, and was laid to rest in Miles cemetery Tuesday. Many friends attended the funeral, and extend sympathy to
husband and little ones. WIRTH The infant daughter of Mr. andMrs. L. Wirth near Waterloo, was buried in the Catholic cemetery Tuesday, aged about 6 months. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Waterloo Republican – May 5, 1909 SNOW ON MAY 1 A heavy flurry of snow fell last Saturday morning, so heavy that in Hecker the ground was covered. The weather bureau states that it was the heaviest snow that has been recorded in May. Werling of Peru Sunday afternoon, July 25, 1909. Rev. Nollau officiating. They were attended by Miss Katherine Werling, a sister of the groom, and Mr. Louis Bode. A splendid repast was served after the ceremony. While the last names of the parties are the same, they are not related. Chance introduced them. Attracted by the identical name, correspondence followed, and then a visit. Mr. Werling is an electrician. Naumann, Moredock Henry Pieper, New Hanover, to Hulda Stumpf, Columbia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Waterloo Republican – July 28, 1909 MARRIED Miss Minnie Stumpf and Mr. Jacob Huch were joined in holy matrimony on Sunday afternoon July 25, 1909 at 4 o'clock p.m., Rev Sefzig of the New Hanover Evangelical Church officiating. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stumpf, prominent and highly respected farmers. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Huch Sr., and is a young man of sterling qualities. The ceremony took place at the bride's home. Miss Rose Dotxauer was bride's maid and Mr. William Stumpf, brother of the bride acted as groom's man. Only the immediate family members were present at the ceremony. In the evening the Jolly Pastime club came in a body to participate in the festivities. Both bride and groom have been connected with the club since its organization. There was plenty of refreshments, and an abundance of good things to eat. Dancing was kept up until the early hours of the morning. The young couple were the recipients of a large number of useful presents. The happy pair will make their home on the Christ Sander place. We join their many friends in wishing the happy couple a long and happy wedded life. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Waterloo Republican – September 15, 1909 SCHMIDT-TUNZE Miss Stella Schmidt and Herman Tunze were married in St. Louis on Monday, September 13, 1909. They will make their home here in the Eckert house. Miss Schmidt is a daughter of section forman Geo. N. Schmidt and the groom is well known here as a member of the Tunze family. We wish them a full share of earths happiness and good fortune. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Waterloo Republican – September 15, 1909 Mr. Wm. Mueller and Mrs. Kate Kalowsky were married on Sunday, Sept. 12, at the brides home on North Second St., Rev. Wm. Schlinkmann of St. Paul's Evangelical Church officiating. In the evening a large crowd assembled at the house to, serenade the couple. The groom was liberal and the serenaders got what was coming. A dance followed that night.
