The following entries are found in the baptismal records of ST. PAUL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Columbia,
Illinois. They were translated & indexed from the original German by Robert Buecher, 5400 Pernod Avenue, St.
Louis, MO 63139. This index contains 1,955 entries. The congregation was founded in 1849 as an Evangelical
Church with the existing baptism records first starting in October 1854 [* see note below]. Baptism records for
1854 thru 1938 can be found on Microfilm Roll # 1006419; items 3-5; at the Family History Library, Salt Lake City,
Utah. Information enclosed in brackets [ ] is NOT found in the original record but has been added by Mr. Buecher
either as a correction or for clarification. Additional information may be found in the original record that is NOT
found in this index. Most baptisms give the name of the Godparents and the minister who performed the baptism
but those names have NOT been included in this index. When words in the original records were written with an
umlaut [two dots over the vowels "A", "O", or "U"], they have been typed here as "AE", "OE", or "UE".
