MRS. M. J. CROWE PASSED AWAY

Mrs. M. J. Crowe, beloved wife of Matt Crowe, departed this life on Friday 
morning, October 15, 1915, after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Crowe was born in County Roscommon, Ireland.  She came to America 
with her parents in early childhood and spent the greater part of her life in Monroe 
County where her parents settled upon coming to the United States.
She was a devout member of the Catholic church and as long as her health permitted, 
was an active worker in all its religious and charitable organizations.  Her leading 
characteristics were devotion to her home and family.  She was above all an ideal mother 
and faithful friend.  Indeed, her life and character are so well known that further comment 
is unnecessary.  

She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband and three daughters, viz: Mamie, the wife of Dr. 
Paulter, Kittie, her faithful attendant during her last illness, and Helen, a religious of the 
congregation of the Sacred Heart, now station at St. Charles, Mo., a sister, Mrs. Anna 
Blue and a brother William Wall, besides many devoted relatives and friends.

The esteem in which she was held was attested by the large number attending her funeral.  
Her remains were laid to rest in Sts. Peter and Paul’s cemetery Monday morning after 
solemn requiem mass in the Catholic church here, conducted by Rev, C. Krewet.

May her sleep be peaceful and calm.
